LIPOSUCTION SURGERY
Balance, proportion and contour are the basic elements of an appealing human form. A cosmetic surgeon can sculpt a better shape to nearly any area of the body using liposuction, achieving dramatic improvements with subtle changes. Learn everything about liposuction below.
What is liposuction surgery?
Liposuction surgery removes excess fat deposits to sculpt the body of a patient with an improved shape. While liposuction is best known as a fat removal procedure, helping a patient refine their shape is also one of the best procedures. In fact, cosmetic surgeons frequently use liposuction to refine the results of other procedures, as no other technique permits such detailed improvements in body contour.
Life after liposuction
Advanced liposuction techniques of today are designed to minimize swelling, trauma and discomfort, and recovery from liposuction can be remarkably fast when the procedure is performed by a qualified cosmetic surgeon. Many patients, depending on the physical requirements of their jobs and the extent of their procedures, return to work just a few days after their procedures. While your cosmetic surgeon may prescribe pain medication, most patients will find more than enough to manage any post-operative pain over the counter options.
You may be given a compression garment by your cosmetic surgeon to wear for a few weeks after surgery. This helps minimize swelling and promotes optimum contraction of the skin. Scars should fade significantly with proper care over the months following surgery; in many cases, after a year or so, scars are barely visible.
Results can be lasts permanently with proper care
Fat cells are removed from your body by liposuction and these fat cells will not grow back. However, to ensure that your new look remains optimal, it is important to maintain a stable weight. If you gain considerable weight in the future, your overall appearance will likely change as your body stores excess fat elsewhere.
Liposuction is a safe procedure when performed by a qualified cosmetic surgeon and is an excellent way to improve your body's shape. Consulting a board certified cosmetic surgeon is the best way to decide if liposuction is right for you.
Steps of liposuction procedure
Step1-Anesthisia:
During the surgical procedure, medicines are given for your comfort. Local anesthetic, intravenous sedation, and general anesthesia are the choices. The best choice for you will be recommended by your doctor.
Step2-The incision:
Liposuction is done by small, unobtrusive incisions. First, to reduce bleeding and trauma, diluted local anesthesia is infused. Then a thin hollow tube or cannula is inserted to loosen excess fat by means of a controlled back and forth motion through the incisions. Using an operational vacuum or syringe attached to the cannula, the dislodged fat is then suctioned out of the body.
Step3-Results:
Once the swelling and fluid retention commonly experienced after the liposuction subside, your improved body contour will become apparent. Learn more about the results of liposuction.
